The Yoorana Gunya Social & Emotional Wellbeing Team (SEWB) assist Aboriginal and
Torres Strait Islander clients to enhance their overall well-being ensuring all aspects are
cared for in a holistically and culturally appropriate manner. The SEWB Team provide
a range of programs to the community to support our peoples culture, spirit, family and community connection.
SEWB is a holistic concept that is the foundation for physical and mental health for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The overall purpose of the SEWB Team is to strengthen client’s foundations and promote wellness by ensuring clients get the support they need.
Our SEWB Team provides programs to the community to assist with health related issues, programs to strengthen communities and cultural connections, life skills, mental health awareness and more.
Our SEWB Programs include Womens group, Mens group, Mobile Childrens Library, Walking Group, and other Community Awareness Programs and Events.
Yoorana Gunya has an Exercise Scientist working within the social, emotional and wellbeing (SEWB) space, the role is to promote holistic health care approaches to Aboriginal people and communities. This is achieved through various approaches such as; individual consultation SEWB support and group therapies/activities. Other important roles also include identifying and organising referrals, advocating for cultural healing and facilitating community engagement.
